What’s New at Lyn’s Crafts

After a hectic holiday season, things have quieted down. School as started and I am trying to get my study habits back. Last year I was working 2 jobs and taking two classes. The strain was too much. Hubby and I agreed that I should quit one of my jobs so I did. My last day at my day on that job is Feb 8th. After that I will more time to study, and of course, crochet.

Back to passion – creating new patterns.

As you have probably noticed I have been very slow at releasing patterns. That was due to being over committed. Now I will have more time to devote to my true passion, writing crochet patterns, while still having time to work and study. I have several ideas for new patterns, but, wanted to know what would you guys like to see? Let me know in the comments, what new patterns you would like to see from me.

New Blog Article – What is Tatting?

Check out our latest blog article on tatting. I was curious to learn more about the early form of thread craft. See what I discovered and get access to a free 400+ page ebook with actual tatting patterns. You can read the blog article “What is Tatting” by clicking on this link.

Time to Restock

This is the time of year when we start planning which yarns and threads to restock. I have already reached out to our suppliers in Indonesia and The Philippines to work out which yarns and treads to get. We will be restocking most of our out of stock items, plus getting new colors. Why did I say most?  Because we will only restock the yarns that sell. We have many yarns, that while high quality and very pretty, just don’t sell as much as we would like. In other cases, our suppliers have stopped carrying some of the colors. In both cases we will be adding those yarns to our clearance section on our website. This will allow us to focus our resources on those items that you want the most.

Restocking from our overseas suppliers is a lot of work. We have to make sure that we have correctly identified each item to purchase, verify it’s availability, calculate the shipping, arrange for payment and then wait for the products to arrive. We are lucky that we have suppliers we trust. It is always risky sending money overseas. You have to work with people you trust and are interested in building long term relationships with you. Also, shipping from overseas is very expensive. At times we pay more for the shipping than for the yarn. When you order from us, we ship from right here in Maryland via USPS so your shipping is much less expensive and way faster.

So when will this restock happen? We are planning to place the orders in early to mid March. You should see both new and restocked items in our store by the end of March, early April at the latest. In the meantime, we still have plenty of beautiful yarns in-stock and ready to ship to you.

Do you have a favorite style or color of yarn you would for us to stock? Let us know in the comments section below this article. We will consider your request.

Improved Shipment Tracking

You may have noticed that you now receive emails letting you know the shipping status of your order. We added this feature so that you can have a better idea as to where your orders are and when you can expect delivery. We hope that you find this feature as useful as we do. You can now track order from postage to delivery and be notified if there are any failed delivery attempts or other exceptions. We also have a tracking dashboard that shows us where your orders are in the shipping process. This will help to ensure that we are all on the same page when it comes to order delivery.

Hubby’s Corner – Snarky TeeShirt

Hubby has really gotten into designing merch (merchandize). Since he doesn’t crochet this is his opportunity for him to express his creative side. In fact, he enjoys it so much that he as created a new website dedicated to selling tee-shirts, sweatshirts and coffee mugs using Direct to Garment (DTG) printing.

Our new site – Snarky Tee Shirt

What is DTG? Well, as the name implies, it is a technology that allows artwork to be uploaded to a vendor and then printed directly on an item of clothing such as a tee-shirt or hoodie. It also allows the same art work to be printed on mugs, tumblers, water bottles, bags, pillows, shoes, sportswear, etc. He has already created some cool crochet merch for Lyn’s Crafts and is now expanding that idea to a standalone online store.

The new site is called SnarkyTeeShirt.com and it is up and running. The idea is sell Snarky (sarcastic) tee shirts that are fun, cute, fashionable, high quality, but very affordable. He was about 60 products listed on the site and is adding more everyday.  Please visit our new site, and let us know in the comments section what you think about it.
